Norm & Andy Return

Hsu Tells F.B.I. He's A Swindler, Prosecutors Say - Norm is talking. His investment companies were ponzi schemes. His political contributions came from both the funds he was swindling and from his investors, who made some contributions voluntarily with a little arm twisting from Norman. The Feds are saying that Hsu used the political contributions to create credibility and cachet so he could keep expanding his ponzi scheme. OK, but Norman is probably a little more complex than that. Why use political contributions to create cachet? It's expensive and very high profile for a guy who was already a fugitive on one fraud conviction and was in the middle of perpetrating a new swindle. Norman was smart enough to realize this could only end in disaster, but he did it anyway. Still nothing published on the young Norm. Let's go NY Times, you can't just read the FBI press releases to get this story. Any insight from As Good As News Readers will be more than welcome- an all expenses paid trip to reclusive Turkmenistan is not out of the question.

Andy (Andrew Borrok) has not reappearred in the Times. Three commenters on the original As Good As News post of September 16 offered a first hand look at Mr. Borrok. The post on Andy drew a lot of visitors. We can't pretend to understand why, but after analyzing the data carefully two things are clear - a lot of people were searching for "Andrew Borrok" and one NY Times photo with Laurie Fetter (Playboy's May 2003 Centerfold) (also frequently searched) generates more buzz than a thousand bold face appearances in NY social blogs and columns.
